Ethos & Values

Our school values of Respect, Compassion, Commitment and Joy, permeate all that we do, and along with our Core Learning Skills curriculum, help develop important life-skills such as independence, perseverance, self-reflection and communication.

As well as providing high quality teaching in core curricular subjects, equipping children with the vital academic skills they will need in life, we also believe in nurturing and celebrating their diverse skills and talents, helping them to grow in confidence and promoting their wellbeing.

We are proud to offer a range of extra-curricular activities and strongly promote creative arts throughout the curriculum. We deeply value the role music, art, dance and drama can have on a child's personal development; the positive impact these areas can have on self-confidence, communication skills, empathy and creative thinking.

In Key Stage 1, we support high quality play through observing, wondering alongside children and facilitating their play and interests through carefully chosen resources. Play gives children a sense of agency and of well-being. It provides opportunities for creative and critical thinking; to refine skills they have been developing since birth; to learn life-long learning skills; to consolidate skills and knowledge learned more formally and most importantly, to have fun and enjoy learning. When children play, they are engaged, relaxed and challenged. They are able to problem solve, persevere, overcome barriers to learning and develop agency, empathy, imagination and learn to deal with uncertainty.

We strongly value the relationships between school, parents and governors and strive to work in partnership with families to ensure we are doing the very best we can do for your children.
